Swatara Exchange Redevelopment

York Excavating Company (YEC) is well underway on the Swatara Exchange redevelopment project in partnership with St. John Properties, Inc. Located on the former Harrisburg Mall property, the mixed-use development will include flex warehouse space, office buildings, restaurants, a convenience store, and other commercial uses. YEC’s scope includes site development activities necessary to support the transformation of the property, including demolition, grading, utility infrastructure, and site preparation. Work began in Spring 2025 and is expected to be completed in Fall 2026.

The project involves coordinating construction activities alongside active businesses such as Bass Pro Shops and Applebee’s, while also addressing the abandonment and decommissioning of an underground cavern located on the property.
